The Souks of Marrakech are also home to many caravanserais, formerly a meeting place for caravans to exchange goods before leaving for the desert crossing. They were also places of lodging of the merchants but also of their mounts and their goods. Today a lot of craftsmen have settled there to make handicraftswhich should later be sold in the many small alleys of the souks.
